How do you plan to fold a GPU? Wouldn't it break?

Telling us your hardware would work best as there is no list as far as I know.

Most modern hardware will work.

Youre 270x will fold fine.

Im also using my workstation at work (with their permission ofc) and it has an old Quadro FX 1800 in it and i cant get it to work. It keeps saying

Folding supports mostly consumer hardware first and foremost,

not so much workstation hardware. Let alone some  6 year old

quadro card  :P, very likely why you are getting assigned to an

empty server.

As for the gpu whitelist, it probably won't do you much good, they

have a tendancy to adding hardware but never removing it again

even if it isn't supported anymore. You can find a gigantic messy

GPU list in the FAHclient folder on your pc. A list that does indeed

include your FX 1800.

As tobben mentioned, a LOT of things in the gpu whitelist no longer work. Typically anything 3 years or newer will work. Quadro cards, like Firepro and such, are not as mainstream, and therefore support for those drop off more quickly.

But, for the work system, if you cannot fold on the GPU, run the Chrome client on low and contribute that way on that system. :)
