got some bad news and good.

I managed to knock off 20c of both idle and max temperatures GREAT! right?

I opened up furmark and to my surprise my FPS as dropped ALLOT I was running 1080p furmark at 85 fps now its 60fps what has happened I am baffled and I cant find anything similar to my problem anywhere on the internet.

My method for the AS5 was a small pea size this created a perfect circle around the center of the GPU with out touching the sides

But what I don't understand is that I managed to make this card run at 20c cooler why has my performance been crippled so badly?

Edit: The GPu is GTX 980 G1 was running 50c idle and 80c max

AS5.......
The stock would of been safer to keep on. I think the VRM's or memory is getting to hot on the card.

Yup, try using gpu-z to check on those.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Right, I cant find the vram temperature on GPU-z or HWmonitor only the GPU temp.

My GPU was running 50c idle, 20c higher then normal.

The voltage usage on furmark has not changed so im running 1.225 same as before.

driver were up to date before the thermal paste change.

anyone here could tell me what other software that could tell me my VRAM temp on my gpu?

GPUs needs loads of thermal paste mate.

My Pc: Cpu: I7 4790k @ 4,8 Ghz @1,25 volts, Motherboard: Maximus VII Formula, Graphicscard: 2x Titan X @1,4 at stock voltage (soon to be replaced), Ram: 32 gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 Cl 9, SSD: 2x 850 Pro 1 Tb in Raid 0, 2x Samsung 840 Evo 1 tb raid 1,, PSU: Corsair HXi Series 1000W 80+ Platinum, Case: H440. Soon to be watercooled again, maybe, probably, the Titans are too loud.

it's not like cpu's that there is heat spreader, gpu don't have heat spreader's on them you gotta but more thermalpaste and spread it allover the gpu and even over the sides

E: put it in star pattern, i think it spread's it best, and cools the whole chip

does that not suffocate the chip? I used the same method on my cpu and it has knocked of 10c,

if this is the case should I buy some IC diamond and use the credit card method?

I have no idea why you are messing around with the GPU thermal paste anyway.. ur temps were fine.....    id take it apart and re sit everything and apply more thermal paste

But why void the warranty of a new card when ur temps were fine /facepalm
