How do you upgrade your existing hardware?

I mean, it can't be as simple as buying another 16gb kit of ram and expecting it to work, right? I have searched the Internet for a guide on upgrading, but so far found nothing good. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Yes, you really do just buy a 16GB kit of RAM and plug it in. Of course, you don't just buy any 16GB kit. There's dual channel, triple channel etc.

Can you explain to me what channels are?

If you can tell us your system spec,  (mobo, cpu, ram, graphics, storage, etc.) we can probably help you a bit more. If you've already got 16GB of ram you really don't need anymore unless you're running integrated graphics.

or doing things other than gaming... also 12 gigs is uasually the TRUE sweet spot for integrated graphics. B) :D^_^

meh, I run 16GB with a 980. If you're running something like a kaveri I'd want more than 12... Just my opinion.

well, kaveri max graphics is R7, that kind of horsepower wont benefit form more than 2 gigs of vram. :D

just like tha titacn X could have gotten away with 8 gigs instead of 12.

Yup. shadow of mordor is pushing 6.5. so it's safe. any idea what star citizen is going to take? There was a recent question on what triple 4k displays would take. I think a couple of titan x's would come close.

It depends on what hardware person has. And what they feel is lacking. Like my two previous upgrades and upcoming one.

For bigger upgrade I went for CPU+mobo+RAM+SSD at once. Last upgrade was 2 fans and HDD. The upcoming one will be DAC and either GPU or mech kb. Why? DAC because my audio card is loosing its drivers constantly. GPU because my 560Ti is very much bottlenecking 4770K and mech because my Sidewinder X6 is getting old.
