So besides the 5820K having less PCIe lanes and a lower base clock is there any major performance differences between them? Or would simply overclocking make the 5820K come out about the same in something like Passmark. I wonder because on Passmark's website it shows the 5820K preforming quite a bit worse than the 5930K (Almost a whole 1,000 points worth. (752 to be exact)). https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=2336&cmp[]=2340

So, would simply overclocking the 5820K make it on par with the 5930K or is there something else that one has that the other has not (besides the aformentioned?)

The 5820K has 28 lanes.

And the 5930K has 40 supported PCE-I lanes.

Unless you need lots of Sata E and lots of Graphics Carrds, the 5820K is a more economical purchase.

@Sintezza @kpreg @Suffokation

Okay so really, overclocking the 5820K will make it preform the same as or better than the 5930K then.

Same architecture, same cores.

indeed overclocking is easy, 5820k should be capable of hitting 4.2 ghz without any issues.
