Howdy folks, I'm considering popping a Nepton 280L onto my CPU and it got me thinking "Why leave my GPU dry?" So not desiring a custom loop I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with any of the (rather limited) options on the market for this.

I'm not in any dire straits since I ditched the awful cooler PowerColor put on my 7870XT Tahiti LE for an Accelero TT II early on, but I'm just poking at the idea of taking the dip. (PowerColor fit this nearly 200w TDP card with a single 92mm fan and a curve that let the VRMs roast!)

So fire away, are sealed/AIOs for GPUs at a point where they're good, or should I leave my perfectly fine GPU cooler alone?

1. Overclock until the magic smoke comes out. 2. Modify until broken. 3. Fix and repeat.

Closed loops on GPU's are a becoming a big thing now. None of the hassles of a custom loop with all the performance benefits. If your card runs at 75C+ right now during gaming it will top out at like 50C once you strap a closed loop to it. I personally would invest into some low profile heatsinks for the VRM to go with the Kraken G10.

Kraken G10 = $29.99

Corsair H50 = $59.99

So yeah it's not going to be exactly cheap to do. Personally for the card that you have I wouldn't invest $80 to better cool a card that's only worth twice that. If you're not having heat issues then I would skip out on water cooling it and save for a bigger card first.

I was just about to post this. You definitely need something to cool the other chips, or you won't be enjoying the card for long.

The only reason I haven't made the move to a new card is because I'm waiting for the next wave of adaptive framrate stuff. I know spending ~$80-$100 on this isn't really super sensible, but I'm not overly worried on that front. As soon a 1440p IPS Freesync panel hits the market this GPU gets retired and I'll be slotting in a new card to drive that. As for the case my goodies are stuffed into an R5 so I've got tons of room.
