you should just be able to get a standard laptop disk drive to HDD adapter shouldn't you? not the (probably) expensive dell one.

I know. My PSU is the model that doesn't have a SATA connector, and the IDE cable is already there.

And OMV seems to be fairly light on the RAM (it's not actually doing much of anything right now, but the last time I looked it was like 200MB or less of use).

EDIT: HOW DARE YOU SAY IT'S UGLY. I rather like this case. The DFF OptiPlex 780's were sex though.

The camera my dad bought forever ago sucks. :(

 

Lol the camera is really good, the image looks sharp enough, with decent colors. Just try to take pictures during the day with some sunlight and not the flash. It will look a lot better.

How is OMV running for you? I just set up my NAS with it.

Looks like I'll be using OMV for my next NAS build since FreeNAS is MUCH heavier on resources. As well my HP DL380 (Specs in sig) has a P400i which fucks every file transfer and slows my SAS drives to a crawl. (10MB/s)

I wish my router was capable of gigabit because transferring ~40GB worth of files at 12MB/s is absolutely terrible. That's the main reason that I don't actually get my rendering rig set up to do work.

Ouch, don't they have cheapish gigabit routers now? Like my DIR-860L is a refurb I got for $35 off newegg and it's got 5GHz capability.

Not sure about that model, but IIRC, one of the similar models has b/g/n but the ethernet ports are all 10/100. Not sure about that model though.
