Do I have a Memory Leak?

Hello,

I'll explain briefly the issue. Basically, I've got 8GB of 1600Mhz Corsair XMS3 RAM installed in my system. The issue, my Memory usage is always above 40% and frequently sits at 50% whilst the system is idle. I've looked into whats using memory but things don't seem to add up. As shown in the images below, my user is only occupying just over 1GB of RAM, so where is the other 3GB being used? If anybody knows troubleshooting options or has any suggestions, please comment and I'll try my best to perform them and reply!

Thanks!

stop using chrome, that should fix all problems

I don't think Chrome is at the center of all of this. I've been using chrome since I got my PC, this has only been recently occurring. I'm thinking it could be windows.

Yeah, Chrome was using 7GB of my memory yesterday, making all my other programs run laggy.  Will using Firefox fix this problem?

OP

Check out this post. I had a leak and the sum of the process didn't match the reported RAM usage. I explained how I found what was going on. It's not that hard but it ain't 2 clicks away either...

Poolmon.exe will list more things than the task manager. Sorted by bytes used, you can spot the fault process/driver.
