so in my system right now i run a 7950 windforce edition card and i found a deal for like 110 to 120 dollars for another one, is it worth getting another card since if i play the newest titles i have to play it on the lowest settings, and would getting another card increase my performance enough to be able to play game on high?.

i am not planning to buy a new gpu like a 970 so the best i can do is a second 7950

i have a 750w psu bronze certified, and a 8350 cpu liquid cooled

thanks!

Why on earth are you playing on the lowest settings with a 7950???

on like dying light i average from 100 to 50ish on best performance setting which is pretty much the lowest but if i crank it up on higher it can dip to 40 ish from 65 ish which is a little annoying

Yeah you should be getting about 95fps on medium preset in BF4 and a solid 68fps with the high preset in BF4 with a single 7950... but getting another one will definitely get you up into the higher range with more fps so go for it!

What's the rest of your specs?

Have you tried middling detail levels, or high textures with no AA?

well best performance is like low to middle and i am just too lazy to mess around with settings since i just want to play the game and i can't really notice the differences anyways

the rest of the specs are 990fx gigabyte motherboard and ssd and hard drive and 8 gb of hyperx ram, windows 8

just sell your house and get a titan X

lol jk, a second card would be fine but I dont like crossfire myself. Lots of weird bugs at times and it puts out a lot more heat and fans get louder due to running at higher RPM to keep it all cool.

But I dont see what else you could do, there isnt anything that is excessively better than a 7950 in order for it to be worth swapping it.

So rather than find satisfying detail levels you're willing to spend many alot of monies on a second graphics card?

Then you ask for advice on a forum which is filled with people that know about these kind of things and expect somebody to take you in the slightest bit seriously? I'm sorry but you are approaching your rig and gaming on a PC as a whole entirely wrong.

Well the topic is whether or not to get a second card, so yeah get another one it will increase your performance. But really, if you are spending this much money on a computer, tamper with the game settings for goodness sakes

This.

BF4 as an example,...the 7950 is a powerhouse still.

7950/280/280x

Maxed with no AA

High with Light AA

Medium with High AA

Mix and match even...

BF4, I ran on mostly High, with Ultra textures and 2xMSAA and generally always had 65fps average while playing,.. variance higher and lower in MP happens...but that's my average.

You could drop AA, and stay at 65fps-80fps always... you could keep Ultra, 2xMSAA, have a second card added and still never drop below 60fps...

Other games you tailor to your performance needs,.. you wanting 65fps with little variance,.. mixing details levels will do this.

It's trial and error when you first give it a go,.. over time you'll see the common performance hogging features/tech names and disable them at your will for higher performance.

But...

Buying a second card,.. to employ low details,..seems pretty weird to me.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
