So I will have a few open credits this next year and was curious what classes I might want to look in to taking for fun.

I'm a Social Work and Psychology major...so I don't take many computer classes, math classes, ect.

Is there a class that you guys would recommend to get my feet wet with? I've only got a background with assembling and troubleshooting hardware currently.

Computer hardware introductory classes are always nice. I had a class called "Computer OS and Hardware Maintenance" that I was required to take before I could start my major in Cisco networking. Great class, as hardware is my specialty over software, and the class had a heavier focus on hardware than it did software.

FX-8350 | GA-990FXA-UD3 | G.SKILL 2x8GB 1600MHz | 1TB WD RE4 | CM Hyper 212 EVO | MSI R9 290x Lightning | Corsair AX860i | Silverstone FT05B-W

Pentium G3258 | MSI Z97 PC Mate | G.SKILL 4x4GB 1066MHz | 500GB Samsung 2.5" | Stock cooler | Pending GPU | EVGA 500B | Antec DF-35

GoPro Hero 3 Silver | Netgear R7000 Nighthawk with DD-WRT | HP Officejet Pro 8610 | Canon iP110 | AudioTechnica ATR2500 USB

Downdraft cooler for mITX board (new build) | Desk mount mic stand | Pop filter | Anti-vibration mount for microphone | mITX case | 3rd monitor (matching existing 23.1" | Intel Core i7-4790K (for mITX build)

Sounds like that is a class that I may be a bit bored in unless it it drew in networking and other things like that. I mean I've built several computers, replaced gpu thermal paste, and have done os installs and set up for everything but networking/locked down users

It basically gives an in-depth analysis as to how different hardware components work, then how key features of the OS work. I found it really interesting, and the teacher was boring as hell. However, I'm not telling you to take it, just recommending what I liked.

Intro to Linux was a good one as well. We learned all sorts of bash commands (that I promptly forgot..), and at the end, we were only allowed to navigate using terminal, or using a CLI based distro. Really liked that class as well.

Kinda, my school used testout for the stuff, so it was Computer Hardware and Repair Pro, Networking Pro, and Security Pro, but overall its pretty much the same.
