[Build Log] - G3258, MSI R9 290 - First Gaming Build

Coombesey

Introduction:

After many years of delaying I have finally taken the plunge and ordered the components to build my first gaming PC, It's nothing special. Here it is

Hardware:

CPU - Pentium G3258

CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI

GPU - MSI R9 290

PSU - Antec TruePower Classic 650w (Probably a bit over kill, but I'm leaving some head room for upgrades, if I decide that I want any)

Case - NZXT S340 (with red trim)

Memory - Kingston HyperX Fury 2x8GB

Storage - Samsung 850 Evo 120GB SSD

Storage - Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB

As you may have noticed I am going for a red themed build so I am planning on getting some red LED's to put inside the case.

Final Comments:

All of the components are ordered, so I will keep this thread updated when parts arrive and when the thing is built etc..

All I need now is a name. Any suggestions?

That's a great well rounded build. However do you plan to upgrade that G3258 later down the road?

Yes definitely, I just wanted to keep the budget down a little bit for now.

Excellent. You've built yourself an excellent machine. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did with my first rig :D

The CPU and CPU cooler have arrived, and don't worry final photos will be much higher quality.

With that setup, i would atleast get an i3, even better an i5.

Why? I mean I could understand going with an I5 k but the Pentium will be quicker than the I3 due to it being unlocked and thus, overclockable.

I3s are crud.

All the parts have arrived, will be building the thing tomorrow, and I will post some decent quality photos as well as some benchmarks if I get round to it. Have some photos.
