Schiit Stack 2 (Uber vs Regular)

Also the op asked for the difference between to schiit products, he did not ask if they were worth the money.

But pretty much the only difference is the money so I don't see your point here.

My point is the op asked for the difference between two products, not to be told in someone elses opinion he's wasting his money. Which is what happens to every single one of these threads, the same people come in and say its a waist of money and to buy the cheapest thing which most of the time is not what people asked.

But it's true. Do you have a problem with the truth? This forum is to help people. If we don't it's not really helping. Telling someone to buy something that isn't worth the money is not the point of this forum. I think you're just being uptight right now.

It's not true though its subjective, telling the op the differences like he asked would be true and helping him. Telling the op its a waist of money is a subjective opinion that he did not ask for.

Eh, some people spend a big amount of money just because they can, not because they have to. Otherwise, everybody will be wearing thin white tshirt and whatever cheap trouser you can find

But schiit magni's price makes sense given it costs the same as O2 amp.

"I disagree, therefore it's subjective"

Question was about the Uber, not the regular old Magni.

Well, O2 amp new is somewhere around $130 -150, magni 2 uber is $150. Given that M2U has pre-amp out and (subjectively) better looking, it's not a bad value. Unless you're implying O2 is overpriced

I recommend the O2 rarely, if ever.

Also mentioning the SMSL headphone amp/DAC everytime is not apropriate when it wont power a lot of headphones such as the lcd2 as mentioned in this thread.

It won't?

Youre correct that OP wasnt asking about the regular old Magni. Part of the OP's question was asking about the new regular Magni which is the same price as the old regular Magni. Its in the thread title, Uber vs Regular. So that point he was making is true, the Magni and O2 are similarly priced

Going by what ive used with other orthos and what ive tested of the lcd-2 with other amps, looking at the output power of the smsl it will struggle and will probable have to be cranked to its maximum to power them to a decent level at which point you may get distortion and channel imbalance from it and also leaving no headroom.

But I don't think you or anyone in the forum will think O2 is an overpriced, useless amp. and given that schiit magni costs around the same price (or even cheaper!) and sound the same, I don't think it's a bad choice.

We've already discussed why I and others don't like le Schiit. Not like you're prevented from talking about or recommending them.

Which amps?

My own kit i have used hifiman he-500's with a vali, magni 2 and q-dac. To be a decent level on the magni 2 the he-500s have to be at about 9-10oclock on high gain which would be about 200mw ish or a bit more, on the vali it had to be about 11-12 and since the lcd2 have a similar power requirement and the smsl can only output around 160mw from what i can tell it would not be good enough. Another factor may be the voltage it can output but i have no idea about that sort of thing on a technical level at all. I have used the LCD2 at a convention on at least 5 different very high ends amps that i forget the names of and it supped a lot of power.

The LCD-2 is significantly more sensitive than the HE-500, but you could be right so I'll concede the point since I have no account of an LCD running from the SMSL.

Fair enough and yes but it also has a higher input impedance. And yes i accept the smsl may be a fine choice for something like the fidelio x1/2 but even the hd 650's from my experience may max out the volume nob on it and possibly even sound thin in the bass because of an impedance spike.

Yes but they will require a higher voltage won't they or am i wrong?

No, I was though. Sensitivity being equal, low impedance will require more current and less voltage, while high impedance will require more voltage and less current. Overall power required is the same. That said, even the LCD-2 still falls on the high current side of the equation.

The smsl should be plenty. I used to use my LCD-2's, my HE-500, and my HD800's off a Fiio E5, never had any problems whatsoever getting to very loud listening levels without distortion.

Also, the HE-500 is harder to drive than the LCD-2, the LCD-2 just seems quieter because it has less treble.

If money isn't a big concern, I'd recommend a magni tho, as it'll work with anything he ever feels like getting in the future.

Not to mention it looks sexy

Syba dac & SMSL much cheaper doe and do the same shit basically, so there's that though.

also hi friend

feel free to come on my ts3 if u ever want, pm for info if u want it
