Bottleneck? or bad GPU

Hi guys, I went from a 270x to a 970 and to a 280x (specs in sig)
I just started playing battlefield 4 and I noticed I have lower framerates than my old 270x( High Settings - 4xMSAA)
The map was Siege of shanghai(RUSH mode) 64players and my FPS was around 40s to 50s and GPU usage was an avg of 59% which is weird because when I tried my gtx 970 gpu usage was about 68% and I manage to run it at ULTRA preset

While my 270x achieves 55-70fps. Ive been playing BF4 with my 270X and it never dips to 44 unless there you're witnessing the "C" objective in Siege of shanghai fall.

Well, the 970 was an impulse buy and my fx-6300 was bottlenecking it (No performance increase in some games, DSR was affecting my gameplay). Then I sold it for a 280x and some $$$.

What brand 280x is it? The Club3D ones have terrible throttling issues and the sapphire ones have weird usage issues.

With that processor there should be a small amount of bottleneck (about 10-17%) but you should still get more FPS than that.

having tested as an fx6300 and r9-290 thats not right i am pinned at 99% usage most of the time 

i have tons of print screens of RTSS shots and benchmarks but no way am i going to upload them on the LTT 2MB limit while im on .25mb upload.

what hard drive are you running, what resolution are you at and what drivers are you on?

The game will run fine but you will just notice it some stuttering,

Source I had a overclocked 1100t with a 7970 and yes it bottlenecked in BF4.

That stuttering what you feel is the fps dropping below 60.

 

I'd say thats great performance for a chip released in December 7, 2010.

 

Stop your silly AMD hate, they do well enough for the price in multi-threaded situations.

The fx-6300 might still bottleneck slightly especially in BF4 but it should be fine in other games since BF4 is severely singlethreaded.

mystery solved, yeah a 5960x wont get 100% gpu usage at 720p mate

Nice nitpick, it was used for the older phenom cpu's.

Then there will be a bottleneck at that resolution (lower res = more prevalent CPU bottlenecks), but you should still be getting more than 60fps... 

Not sure what else to say other than the run of the mill CPU/GPU temps/drivers, sorry :(

I got more stable fps on a q6600 xD But anyways, You still can get high fps as the above benchmark showed but you will feel it stuttering even on 80fps.

But I don't see the point to get highend amd cpu's these days since you will need a good motherboard, E.G. 990/990fx and a good cooler to keep it nice and cool and especially quiet.

think i should point out my video is recording 1080p maxed out on a 290 while recording raw with fraps (was like 50GB..) and limited to 60fps and pretty much pinned there..

even an fx4 wont bottleneck it in all likelyhood

720p+ (as i call it) with that card...

mystery solved, yeah a 5960x wont get 100% gpu usage at 720p mate

you're overlooking the problem,

problem is, FPS of my 270x is higher compared to my 280x
