Hello,

A month ago, I received a hand-me-down pc. It is an older pc but still in perfect working order, would really like to upgrade it for gaming purposes.

Currently playing CS:GO and League of Legends, not so demanding games, I just want a constant 100+fps without much bottlenecking especially in CS.

Specs:

AMD fx6100

GTX 560ti 1GB

16gb 1333 ddr3

gigabyte 2ac8 mobo

750w psu

Thank you.

Dont get a 960 unless you like shooting yourself in foot.

I would get a 280x since its a MUCH better card.

That cpu will limit you if you get anything over a 280x anyways.

Depending on your budget, i'd say an R9 290.

After that, the next thing to do, is either get an aftermarket CPU cooler and overclock that chip of yours, or get a new motherboard + cpu. It's all down to how deep that wallet of yours goes.

Before you consider a new gpu, I suggest you think about upgrading your cpu. The 560ti should be more than capable of delivering high framerates in lol/csgo, but it's probably cpu bottlenecked. Get a core i3 or even better, an i5, and then get a new gpu if you still don't get your target framerates. Then I would suggest an R9 280/x. For lol it's way more than enough, no need to spend more. @Fulgrim suggests an R9 290, which is a great gpu choice in general, but it easily does 80+ fps at 4k in lol. A tad overkill in my opinion.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Like most of my recommendations, check your PSU if its a good and reliable brand, if it its, then proceed to upgrading your CPU to an intel i5 or possibly an i3 if the budget is too thight. The 560Ti is a good card and could manage CS:GO and any competative Moba games.

Good luck!

Personally, if you're only playing these games i wouldn't upgrade the GPU. 560 Ti can still handle

your not demanding games at high fps. I would upgrade the CPU instead. CPU power is as important as GPU

when playing multi-player games.

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case

Thank you for all the input. I was debating whether getting a better gpu would be more practical since I won't be using the pc for a lot of multitasking/editing and what not, but if keeping the gpu is and option, then a cpu upgrade maybe in the near future.

My only dilemma with a cpu upgrade is that I would need a new mobo as well so if going that route, I would much prefer to just build a new pc. Maybe selling this one off instead...

Not really, you'll be able to salvage, RAM, PSU, HDD and GPU. That is much cheaper than buying a whole new rig.

Yeah, I agree. My only concern is that if I get a new cpu and mobo, leaning towards a 4690k, that the other components have a higher risk of failing since they are quite old and that bothers me.

I will keep the GPU, PSU (since its a 80+ silver) and maybe the HDD for extra storage.

The memory is 1333hz  so I might replace that too, depending on what mobo I get.

Thank you.

Lots of people have been discussing about getting the 970 but that overkill IMO.

Get the 280/280x.

I've heard that the r9 290 is ~$30 more expensive as compared to the GTX 960, but have no way of verifying this since I'm not living the US. However, if this is indeed the case, do consider it since it'll allow you to not just limit yourself to these games, but more graphically intensive ones as well at decent framerates @1080p.

Hope it helps! Lemme know any mistakes k!
