Differance between Evo 212 plus and Evo?

the main differences between the two is the pricing and noise level of each, although I've read that adding a second fan to the 212+ is easier. Six of one, half a dozen of the other, I'd get the EVO if you only plan on using one fan and the Plus if you are going to operate a push-pull fan set-up. I think the Evo has slightly better performance (a few degrees), but the plus is generally ~33% cheaper (it's not right now though, the Evo is only a few bucks more so I'd go for that).

I know that there was a revision from the original 212+ where the heatpipes protruded from the base and had subpar cooling, but it was fixed by making them flush with the base. The only difference now is that the Evo has the heatpipes sandwiched together while the Plus has them separated. The Evo should have better cooling but by very little.Maybe 1-3c max. Honestly just get whichever one is cheaper.

Thanks guys, I just got me a second hand 212+ for $16 NZD, about 10 USD. I might replace the fan on it or add another if that's a problem but shouldn't be since I have 5 case fans already lol

get an evo, ive had a plus before and it was great however..
both are usually the same price or within £2
the evo usually has a 4 pin pwm fan where the plus is a 3pin
also the copper heatpipes are much closer together which means less thermal paste trapped between them and also slightly better conduction


the EVO is usually a full heatsink

while the plus that i had had the heatsink cut in 2 halfs effectively reducing the cooling surface area as air finds the easieast route and simply blew through the middle :angry: it also felt horrible to hold (when building, cpu swapping or even feeling for temp verification), dont know why (probably rougher edges on the fins)

also the 3 pin sickleflow fan above desperately needs a fan speed reducer otherwise it runs at like 1200rpm and while moves allot of air is pretty loud.
not a problem for the 4 pin far above.
