So i just got my brand new pair of AKG K7xx's and the schiit modi (original) and magni 2. Plugged everything in and it worked just fine for about 10 minutes, until my computer froze. It wasn't a normal hang in windows because my mouse functioned just fine, but all applications were absurdly slow. I was able to interact with things, but it took about 15 seconds for anything to respond. Unplugging the dac and waiting about 2 minutes restored the computers functionality. Doing some research i saw that a common problem is that the usb plug is not providing enough power to the dac, so i tried using a powered usb hub to no avail.

I also tried:

-updating my bios to the latest release

-different usb cable

-different ports on computer(both 2.0 and 3.0)

-power setting in windows

I have no clue what else i could possible do to diagnose this issue, any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Might have a faulty unit. All bus powered USB dac I've tried never showed such symptom. Try setting the sample rate to the lowest (16 bit/44kHz, usually). Directsound should take care of this automatically, but no hurt to try do it manually.

Also try plugging it to another system/PC. If it's the same, try RMA it.
