2-way SLI 980

Go to solution Solved by shert73,

Got it figured out, there was a short in the power button on the case. Took it out and soldered it up. Everything's good :-) :-)

Think im having PSU problem. Running SLI 980 2-way and an aplhacool p655 D5 pump. Keep getting a forced reboot (no BSOD). Thinking that my 850W G2 (EVGA) is not supplying enough oomph to power it all. Not sure tho. Ive troubleshot everything and this is all I can think. Also running 2 CCFL UV bulbs, If that matters. And the 980s are on air but will b putting them on water.

PSU is good, I have the same PSU, could be an instability somewhere else in the system.

Go into your BIOS and reset everything, click on "Load optimized defaults" and then save and exit.

Then go back to the BIOS and enable XMP, and configure your bios as you like it.

Ive tried everything cmos clear, re install windows and all drivers. DIMMs are good temps are good mobo us set right. Everything works fine for a few hours than bam re boot no bsod no codes but the power kernel cause of the unexpected power loss.

Yes bios updated, cards are both EVGA 980 SC, and I have not tried putting a card in the 3rd slot, dont have an SLI bridge that would fit that configuration.

I think It may actually be your PSU I had 2 780ti 4790k 2 d5 pumps etc on a 800w PSU. 2 hrs of gaming then bam unexpected shutdown

I changed my PSU for a corsair HX1000i and it fixed all my problems.

But your cards are maxwell So they use less power, difficult to say

Hope this helps
