AVG antivirus software has come up with a virus called trojan horse generic33.bqlj     the file that it says is causing the issue doesn't exist. When I scan with AVG it says the computer is clean. Please Help!!!!

Does not having a second parenthesis around something bother anyone else as much as it does me? (Like if this statement was missing a second side)

If Malwarebytes can't find it you don't have any virus ;)

Not so sure about that. Sure they want your money, but AVG is actually a very good antivirus program, especially its free version.

I've had MSE and Malwarebytes since i got Windows 7, not a single virus since^^

Not that i had more than like 1 virus on my old XP (because obviously vista sucked)

I meant to say "not so sure about that" in response to "AVG and many other programs wants your money so it says things that makes no sense sometimes..". MalwareBytes is also an excellent program as well.  ;)

Oh, well i used AVG before but the free version is annoying. I just downloaded Microsoft Security essentials and i run that most of the time^^

AVG was good back in the day when i didn't know anything about computers :D

If malwarebytes deos not find anything then maybe give the free avast a try. Malwarebytes is usually able to find all infections, its saved my a$% already two times.

I ran malwarebytes and it found a virus and says that it cleaned it, but avg still comes and says the virus is there. The file that avg is detecting has the virus, I searched in the start menu and I couldn't find that file.

don't search in the start menu, because it only searches in some places. You should be able to get the full path of the infected file from AVG (Either expand a column or right click probably - I haven't used AVG for a while). If you can't get the path, open your C (and any other drives you have) drive and do a windows search there. If you still can't find it, I would be a bit suspicious of AVG's results.

I don't trust AVG, its pretty much bloatware these days. In the past it used to be good. Now all it does is give you false positives.

Beware of the $recycle.bin virus it is very nasty. I had that virus on the computer that avg had found. It caused me to do a total and complete factory reset on the computer that was infected.

Never had a virus, I have used only free programs... or ones included with ISP in the younger years.

I have used:

AVG

Avast

Avira

Norton (I know, I know. the early days)

Panda Cloud

That's all I can remember... But I use AVG now.

avast + malware bytes = beast, try looking for hidden files aswell because the file may be hidden and do full scan not quick scan
