Gtx 970 sli (3.5gb+0.5gb) vs Gtx 980 (4gb)

I ONLY WANT POSTS FROM PEOPLE WHO HAD OR HAVE GTX 970 OR GTX 970SLI AND TESTED IT IN VARIOUS WAYS!

Hello. I am building computer thats gonna be with me for like 4-5 years without changing anything. I am gonna use only 1080p monitor.I dont need that bull "games dont use more then 3gb..." they do

i am gonna play all those broken games watch dogs, assassin creed unity and etc that easily reaches 3.5gb and more even at 1080p.

Now comes the question should i get 2x gtx 970 for maximum fps
http://www.skytech.lt/gvn970g1-gaming4gd-gigabyte-geforce-gtx-970-4gb-gddr5-256-bit-hdmi-2xdvi-p-209968.html

Or should i get more stable version gtx 980
http://www.skytech.lt/gvn980g1-gaming4gd-gigabyte-geforce-gtx-980-4gb-gddr5-256-bit-hdmi-2xdvi-3xdp-p-211869.html

Those prices are normal in my country dont mind it.

it doesn't really affect it, a single 970 can max out games at 1080p and some even in 1440p

unless you are playing like Battlefield 4 at 200% res scale with max settings, 4x MSAA, at 4k you will not need to worry, get the EVGA GTX 970 FTW

Well you're new here and quite frankly your tone is quite rude.

Your asking for help yet you come off as if you already know more. It that's so change your tone when asking for help.

And it's not BS that "games don't use more than 3/4/5gb" at you're RES.

Your gonna be playing in 1080p. There's not one game that can top that off in 1080p.

@Sorfex0 Get the 980 rather than two 970's. That way you also have the option of adding a second 980 later on, if you need to, when they come down in price.

I want to make sure that ppl who tested it would respond not some1 who is like "I think u are fine go ahead and buy it" And ofc u didnt even fully checked my first post. Go ahead and watch those videos then write "There's not one game that can top that off in 1080p" Assassin creed unity 1080p 3.5gb usage, shadow of mordor. Would look for more titles if you want but i think i made my point.

The problem is that gtx 970 can pass 3.5gb limit and when it does ppl report bad experience about it thats why i am concerned. And its not like i am gonna use this card for 1 or 2 months. More demanding games gonna come.

Then why do you care, just go but Titan Black's until Titan X releases and ignore everyone here, you have your own agenda it seems.

you watched the video? the whole video? with volume on? than you shouldn't worry about the 3.5gb vram anymore. you play in 1080p? great, people reporting the vram problem played in 4k resolution. some games may have compatibility issues with SLI. just get a 980.

may your framerates be high and your temperatures be low. #pcmr

I do not own a single game that goes over 2.5gb at 1080p. The problem does not exist for me. In your case no matter what you get your gonna have problems if you hope to use it for 5 years.

A video by me, GTX 970, Far Cry 4 maxed out using DSR. The Frmerate sucks but there's no GPU load drop and the frametimes are ok for the framerate.

I don't get this issue, same story with BF4, but a lot of people do in other games.

We should test overclocking the memory, that makes it more fast, maybe it can fix this issue making the 0.5gb fragment faster?

Get a 980, you wont have problems if your card needs to use more than 3,5GB of VRAM. And Im sure there will be some very VRAM heavy games in the next months/year.

Ironically I own a GTX 970

If you want a pc that will last for 4-5 years, then wait for the Titan X. The 12gb of ram will last for so long. Trust me, you will be not staying in a 1080p monitor.

I run three monitors. A 1440p (3440x1440) ultrawide in the center, and two 1080p (2560x1080) ultrawides on either side. I never have issues with that.

At 4K on my MultiSync monitor.... I didn't have any issue. It's all way overhyped.

I run Dual EVGA 970 SSC.

I think i am just gonna roll with gtx970 sli. Gtx 980 is overpriced way too much. Even if i will have few problems or shutters i think that lower price will make it worth for me.

So what if you just want to stay with your brand new 1080p monitor for the coming 5 years? Will the 970 hold up for that long if you like to game high res?
