Second Build: €1100

ExSangu

Good day everyone,

Someone wants to buy my old PC from me and he made a pretty good offer so I'm likely to take it. Specs old PC:

Athlon II X4 760K, ASRock FM2A75M-DGS, Crucial Ballistix Sport 2*4GB, Gigabyte GTX650 Ti Boost, BeQuiet SystemPower 7 400W, Crucial M4 64GB SSD, Toshiba 7200RPM 500GB HDD, CM Seidon 120V.

Now I'm completely hyped because I can finally build a cool new PC again! My absolute max budget is €1200 excluding OS, althought I would really like to go lower than that. I already had something in mind, and it looks like this:

CPU: Intel Core i5 4690K

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97MX-Gaming5

GPU: MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G

Cooling: Cooler Master Nepton 240M

RAM: GSkill RipjawsX F3-170000CL11D-8GBXL, Dual Channel 8GB DDR3, 2133GHz

PSU: Seasonic M12II Evo 520W

SSD: Crucial MX100 256GB

HDD: Seagate DesktopHDD 7200RPM 2TB

Case: Corsair Obsidian 350D Window

I also might go for a ITX build with a Obsidian 250D.

I mainly play PlanetSide 2 and was hoping to get some opinions on this setup. Will the 4690K be overkill? Should I simply get a 4590 (or even a 4460) instead?

I was also thinking of waiting for the R9 390(X) to come out and see if they would be good.

This is just the first draft, most things are subject to change.

are you a gamer? cuz then you could save some money on RAM, for gaming you don't need 2133Ghz

I would pass on the CM nepton (I think its a water cooler aio, right?) Its pretty overkill for an i5. There isn't a real point in water cooling unless you plan to over clock the shit out of the CPU. I would go for a cheaper air cooler, like a hyper 212. I had an fx4130 with a hyper 212 and the temps were pretty decent considering it was over clocked. Other than that the only other conflict I see is the 2 tb HDD. I don't know if you need 2 tb, (I certainly don't) but if you feel you will use most of it, then go for it. Looks like a good build though. The 970 will do just fine.

Yes I am a gamer, however I was looking for some nice red coloured ram, and the price difference between 2133ghz and 1600ghz was just €10.

Yeah it's an AIO water cooler. I figured it would run a lot quieter then an air cooler but honestly have no idea. The 2TB HDD might indeed be too much.

I was mainly hoping for someone to know if the 4670K would have a big advantage over the 4590 in PlanetSide 2. The game isn't terribly well optimized and does require quite some CPU horsepower as far as I know. (On my Athlon 760K I ran at 30fps most of the time)
