My girlfriend wants a computer for graphic design but she wants a OS X and she found this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Apple-MacBook-White-2-1GHz-Intel/dp/B00153XRZ6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1425751664&sr=8-4&keywords=macbook

Would a hackintosh be an option or is this MacBook okay?

Could I install OS X to a Windows laptop or is that not an option?

I wouldn't buy that, that's a waste of money. Go on tonymacx86.com and look at a Hackintosh guide.

Build your own, its the easiest thing to do. Putting it on a PC laptop is such a struggle.

I recommend this build from tonymacx86.com

Honestly that MacBook would have an EXTREMELY hard time running Photoshop effectively with that slow CPU and only 1GB of RAM. You would need a MacBook with ATLEAST a modern-day i3 and 4GB of RAM (Preferably an i5 and 8GB of RAM or higher) to run Photoshop effectively.

My Current Build:

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz 1.11V, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, Asrock Z77 Extreme4, Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Asus GTX 760 DCII Overclocked, Corsair CX600M

At my old school we ran photoshops on PCs that had pentium 4s in it so i mean take into consideration that photoshop could literally run on a potato not well but it will run. You might want to look into building her a hackintosh or just get the macbook if it works out cheaper.

I have a Dual Core 2,4 ghz, but mine's an hyperthreaded i5. Don't get that laptop, piece o sh**.

Hackintosh only works with specific, VERY specific hardware and will run really slow when not fed enough money.

If she is so heavy into OS X (Even though Windows 7 is way superior), than you will need to pump more money in it than that.

EDIT: Simple solution: unless you are willing to pump 1000+(InsertCurrencyHere) into your laptop, your only option is a low, or mid-range windows laptop. You will be literally paying 600 extra for Mac Os X with same specs as a laptop, and it is NOT worth it in my opinion.

See the only thing is that she has zero room for a PC so what's the solution :(

Either buy a Mac Mini and make it an all in one by strapping it to the back of a monitor to save space or buy a good Windows laptop and tell her to forget useless OSX.

@Tim Drake here is a laptop from the same site, 20 pounds more, and a QUAD CORE, 8GB RAM AND 1TB HDD.

This means more than DOUBLE of the processing power, 8 TIMES the ram, and about 8 TIMES more storage space. For 20 pounds more. Just forget OS X.

EDIT: select Style name Intel Pentium N3530, it doesn't auto select it with the hyperlink)

@OP Seriousy get this, it's a great deal and an amazing laptop (I have a variant of it with an i3 and 6GB of RAM and it's amazing). Just forget about OSX unless you feel like spending lots of money for a MacBook powerful enough to do Photoshop work or spending more money and a lot of time trying to get a Hackintosh up and running.

If she likes mac, you should go with an imac and not a portable system.

I personally discourage an hackintosh. They're good to geek around but not reliable at all when it comes to work! With an hackintosh you will always deal with small incompatibility and updates issues.
