PS3 audio.

It's pretty amazing...

Playing games through my Sony stereo which has surround capabilities even though it is a 2.1 780 watt Hi-Fi sounds so damn good!

Playing audio through my PC and other consoles do not even come close. .. so much audio depth.

Any one else experienced this?

Is the same outputs, source and everything used between all of these listening tests?

Because if the same media was played through both the PlayStation and the PC, along with the same interface (I am thinking optical), then the difference would be not a whole lot, correct?

The PS3 is hooked up via optical.. PC is RCA.

You sure you just don't have those set up poorly? It should be the same. In fact, on PC it should be better if you enable headphone mode in games. Also Speakers need to be set up differently depending on how far away you are from them. I'm sure this is more of a different set up or not using the proper settings issue than the PS3 actually being good because it shouldn't be. It could also be very much placebo effect. "Audio depth" is a popular result of placebo.

I don't understand why every one seems to be trying to convince you that what you're hearing can't be right for any couple of reasons.   

 

I believe you.  I have noticed similar kinds of effects with different components in my living room.  For example, the discretion of the channels through Netflix on my smart TV app is more pronounced than the PS4 app.
