Windows folder taking up 35GB ?!?

Well i was having a look around today on my HDD wondering what programs i am going to place on my new SSD and see how much room they would take up. Anyway get to the point my windows folder is currently taking up 35 GB of space which is more than half the room i have on this new ssd and considering i will be instaliing windows onto the new SSD i was abit shocked. is there any reason why the windows folder is soo big ? is it normal and do i have to just live with it?

 

The winsxs folder within windows is taking up 17GB, the largest folder withing windows currently on my pc, can i just delete some of the crap in it ??

Which version of windows do you have? Ultimate installs a lot of crap, you might want to go over to home premium.

Other than changing the version of Windows you have, there isn't a way to just "delete" some of it. Everybody delete System32!!! (please don't do this....)

m8 i am on home premium 

My windows folder on win7 ultimate is 26gb. I'm not sure how yours is so big D:

Did you maybe accidentally put a file or something in there?

Well, when you do a fresh install of Windows on the SSD check it out before you start loading it down with programs.

I remember reading somewhere that "safe" space for windows is 40gb. Maybe your one option is to let windows have that ssd and get another for other softwares that need speed. If 120gb drives are around 150$ smaller ones aren't that expensive?
