Hello Guys,

I was wondering what DDR1886 ram was? Also what the difference is between 1886 and 1600.

Thanks!

It is faster, but will probably have a higher latency, so it won't be much better for normal tasks. IMO it isn't worth going over the cheapest (reliable) ram unless you are paying for looks or you are already at top performance (eg. gtx 980 level).

1866 has higher clock speed. but it will not make any huge difference in performance tbh. more capacity is more important for me (as long as your hardware needs it)

CPU:  i5 4690 Motherboard: AsRock H81M-VG4 RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz Graphics Card: Sapphire HD7870 OC Intel HD4600  MSI R9 270X HAWX Storage: 1TB WD Blue 7200rpm, 120GB WDC Scorpio 5400 rpm PSU: Corsair VS550 Chassis: Custom Open Air Case OS: Windows 8.1 X64 Mouse: Roccat Kone Pure Optical Mousepad: Roccat Taito Keyboard: Armageddon Kalashnikov AK-770i

As mentioned it's simply the raw speed, this video from Linus should help you:

It's generally accepted as long as you have enough capacity for what your running RAM speed won't make much of an impact on FPS for games and not noticeable in casual everyday use. It's more important in professional environments.

Ultimately I'd say it depends on what your doing with your system and choosing what best suits you.

I usually down clock my RAM to achieve an easier OC (and lazier one).

Hope that's useful to you.

just the memory speed. if it's for gaming it will make no difference what you buy 1333mhz performs just as well as 1866mhz.

for rendering or photo editing the faster the better
