Is the $136 difference worth it? I will be gaming. And the first was my original idea until reddit said the second one. I have two 3tb drives because one is a backup that will be removed once not in use.

the sake of $136 dollars when spending that much should not really be an issue

On your first build you did not even have a CPU cooler

I think maybe you should go back the the drawing board and do a better build overall, the second build is the better of the 2 though, better GPU  etc

1) Get an SSD - Samsung 850 Evo 250GB is a good one.

2) The price diff is because of the 295X2.

3) Why are you getting two different type of monitors?

4) Why do you need 6TB of storage?

5) The PSU in the first one, to me, looks like crap. Get an EVGA/NZXT/Corsair PSU instead.

You can't use three monitors with different refresh rate as far as I know.

And AMD cards aren't worth it in high end builds right now IMO, either wait for 300 series or go team green, you can get 2 GTX970 sli for 295X price, you can also save a bit on MBO, gaming 5 should be good enough for you :)

Oh and I reccommend you EVGA 750G2 or 850GB PSU , they are great!

The second rig is a better performer and cheaper. But if you live and a place with a high power bill you may want to chose the first build.

I would get rid of the optical drive, you will want to remove the 5.25" bays for better cooling in the r5, and change the motherboard to somthing a little cheaper. Using that extra money i would get a 16gb ram set

How are you planning on using the 3 monitors ? Are you just gaming on the 144Hz and using the other 2 for Internet and other things ?

Get this. It's a damn good build, and it matches, if not beats, the GPU's in the other two builds. Not to mention that it's cheaper than either of your builds. The PSU is great and the storage is a decent amount.

the monitors can be diffrent refresh rates but not in eyefinity.

You can not get 2 970 for $600, let alone watercooled. The 295x2 is dual 290x. The 290x are better performing cards than the 970, and have a full usable 4gb( as much as i hate to say it)

I am using 3tb of storage and te other is a backup. I will only game on one monitor and have the other two doing secondary things not nearly as demanding as gaming. If i do get an ssd it will be a really small one for a boot drive. And recommend the psu.

295X is more powerfull than 980 since it has 2 GPUs, if you want AMD wait for 300 series, current ones are old and power hungry, 970 SLI are best choice for 700.

See the thing is is that if i get the Asus 980 i will have the ability to upgrade later on to another 980. Which of course is more powerful then 2 970's. but if i get two 970's ill be stuck with them and if i want a performance upgrade i will need to get two 980's to beat it anyways. So im just skipping the middleman.

980 is better choice than 295X but the difference between 980 and 970 is very small and by the time you would need to upgrade 970SLI you may as well get new generation GPU.
