Why do I want to upgrade my video card?

Just because you seem knowledgable and nice, would you say a used ASUS GTX 680 4gb is still a solid card? And at <$200, would it be a decent value? I realize they are discontinued but the specs still look really good and over double the performance in all categories compared to my 750 Ti.

Im also almost 30 years old with a wife and a house and maybe a kid in the foreseeable future. Im not the average demographic for this forum :P

I'm like you,

28, 2 kids and married, just brought a gtx 970 and my R9 270 was good enough.

Admittedly I play star citizen a lot but that's still in alpha so I probably won't see any difference till the next update, the next 2 games I play are new Vegas that sits at a constant 60fps and luftrausers and the GPU load on that is 0%.

I know why I upgraded but I know I didn't need to upgrade, all I know is the inner PC enthusiast is currently at peace.

Edit: Scrap inner peace, just brought some water cooling parts.

The 750ti has no place here at least get a 960 or 760/770

I have my eyes on a used ASUS GTX 680 4GB for a good price. Ill probably pick that up and re-sell the 750 Ti for an upgrade fee of like $60 for 2x the performance everywhere.

So for some odd reason, I have an urge to want to pick up a GTX 970 or R9 290X to replace my ASUS GTX 750 Ti.

I literally ONLY play CS;GO on my machine and it runs perfectly fine. I get 160-200 frames in almost all situations and i never see any tearing on my 144hz monitor. I have no logical reason to NEED to upgrade my card but for some strange reason, I find myself putting a card into a NewEgg shopping cart and getting ||<-- that close to clicking "purchase."

Y i do dis?

compulsive spending can only mean one thing: Alien mind control  :o

seriously though, combine the addiction of upgrading computer hardware, with marketing that litters every web page telling you to buy the newest thing, and the compulsion to buy that new component is overwhelming. plus, bragging rights/epeen.

The 750 is like the $30 phon u can buy at any random food shop

Very Wrong, the gtx 750 (ti) is a great beginner card for the money as well as with the 1080p performance if youre not looking to crank up the graphics settings.

excuse me? Any 700 series card is decent if you can find it for a competitive price, and don't mind playing at less than ultra settings in AAA games. I've got it easy, but foir anyone on a budget a 700 deries card will work just fine and dandy unless you're trying to push the limits of performance....Fricking 980 elitists...... j/k
