Hey,

In a hurry for some reasons I bought a laptop with the specs :-

i7 4510U

GeForce 840M

8 GB RAM

I did not know much about gaming and gaming rigs then. Though the 840M can run most of the 2015 games in low specs,
I would like to play them in high using a eGPU. Can someones suggest me a good eGPU adapter?

I have come across this one :-

http://www.banggood.com/EXP-GDC-Laptop-External-PCI-E-Graphics-Card-p-934367.html

Is it any good?

SNIP

They are all completely experimental, this model uses an express card slot.. does your laptop have one? or a spare mini pci-e connection inside? if not then it wont work

also they only work with external screens so you cant use your laptop screen

Experimental? IIRC you plug them to mPCI-e which is the same as PCI-e x1... So it can boot a GPU. Probably he's a mPCI-e slot occupied by a WLAN card

If he wants to output video in laptop's screen he's going to need software for it, but IDK if something like that exists.

Experimental as in, they are a bit DIY, and not a fully tested product, not all laptops will work well with them, and they probably void laptop warranty (I dont know its possible)

Yeah most laptops only have one mini pci-e port so he would have to remove his wlan card everytime he wants to connect a GPU

and he will need a PSU, GPU and monitor in order to make it work, I dont think software will make it work, since normally on a laptop the gpu is internally fed into the screen, these external ones feed the display via HDMI or DP so thats pretty much the only option

Guys I have a 720p monitor too so no probs there!

On top of the screen you also need the desktop graphics card and PSU, pretty much the bulk of an actual desktop. However I'd suggest looking through and finding someone who has successfully done it with your laptop in the past before going ahead

I'll buy a PSU too. But the real problem is I can't find anyone who has tested it on my laptop (Dell Inspiron 3542)
