I have a 4790k and a Gigabyte Z97X-SOC Force.

While I was digging through my old stuff, I found a memory I wasn't using anymore (I that memory was dead) but to be sure I put it in my computer and it my computer didn't boot.

So I removed that memory and put my memory that works then my computer didn't boot again. Puzzled I use the memsafe feature on my motherboard and my computer still didn't boot. I reset the CMOS, switch to different BIOS, use CBAT switch, reseat the RAM, try other RAM and my computer still didn't boot.

Then I tried my other RAM slot then my computer works fine.

The DDR3_1 slot on my motherboard cannot read RAM anymore even if it is a known working DIMM and if I put a ram on that slot my computer won't boot and would get stuck at debug LED code C0 which means bad memory.

So did I killed my motherboard RAM slot DDR3_1 or did I damaged the IMC (integrated memory controller) on my CPU?

Yeah, we're all just a bunch of idiots experiencing nothing more than the placebo effect.

Did said RAM have massive static charge or something when inserted; or shorted out or something?

My computer was turned off (no power, no lights and to make sure I press the power button to discharge anything left before messing with the insides) while plugging and unplugging components.

Have you tried troubleshooting the system for other potential things that may have went wrong?

System: Thinkpad T460

There isn't anything DDR3 _1 slot related that might prevent it from functioning given that all other ram slot works just fine so I don't know what you're talking about.

what about clearing the CMOS?

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.
