Question about R9 280x

Shoob

Hello,

I'm thinking of replacing my GTX 650 Ti Boost with a used (probably for mining) Gigabyte R9 280x Rev 2.0 with 2 years remaining warranty. After lots of reading I've seen people having issues with screen flickering. Is this a driver issue and has it been fixed? I couldn't find any recent information about that. Thanks for the help in advance. :)

I've never heard of this issue.  Just make sure that your CPU is good enough to push the card.

Heyyo,

Flickering? That's usually caused by defective VRAM. All GPUs are prone to this issue. Just make sure your PC has good air flow and the GPU is kept relatively clean of dust and you shouldn't run into the issue.

If the GPU has two years of manufacturer warranty? You'll be fine as long as you register the card after purchase with the manufacturer. ;)

The case is Define R4 and i'm using it with the default fan configuration - 1 intake and 1 exhaust, both 140mm. I've read a lot of bad user reviews on Newegg and got a little worried. I'll probably buy it because its like $135 (converted to dollars).

You might wanna avoid using windows media player when watching videos. For some reason if you overclock vram

and watch a video in media player it turns the clock back to default the speed, if I browse videos too fast the vram speeds

will keep changing and cause my screen to flicker overtime. I don't think you would have that problem in a single screen setup

as the vram speed will be lower.

My vram is not faulty though. And it may not happen for yours.

The card was a bitcoin miner. The guy offers a moneyback if I find an issue with it, so I'll probably buy it and test it for some days. Thanks for the help.
