Am I royally screwing up? I use Afterburner and I can't even squeeze 20 more mHz out of my 780

Screenshot? You may just have a GPU that doesnt OC well. Not all are made same, that's why the nickname is the "Silicon Lottery".

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

I doubt this would be the case if he's really not able to squeeze even 20 more mHz. I feel you might be doing something wrong?

Can you elaborate and give us more details and context of what ur doing/using, etc?

That's why we asked for screen grabs.

I'm going into Afterburner, moving the slider to 20, hitting apply and then running Bf4, the game generally just insta-crashes

Reset the settings to default. Then increase the core clock... You shouldn't really need a voltage bump at that low an OC. DONT mess with anything else.

First of all, start from scratch to default. Play with the voltage. It shouldn't need to go too high, if at all.

Second, mess around with the fan curve. It helps much more than you would think.

Third, raise that power limit all the way if it isn't already. Keep it there.

And fourth, it sometimes works better to tweak the Memory Clock a bit and then play with the Core clock. This might be debatable.. But it does boost performance in any case.

Try those things. I'm certain you can get quite a bit more out of your OC.. Of course, i'm going off by just one image.

What's a safe core voltage? I have it at +10? Is that too little?

IIRC your card won't go past 1.21v on the normal bios. But you won't need that for a minor OC.

tsk tsk tsk. Desktop that can't OC. So sad.

Try using nVidia Inspector instead of MSI Afterburner until you figure out what the best OC/etc is. Inspector has more useful information in its OC table.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

THE INFORMATION GUIDES: SLI INFORMATION || vRAM INFORMATION || MOBILE i7 CPU INFORMATION || Maybe more someday
