Pentium G3258 with 2x970 SLI meaningful?

Would i3 4130 bottleneck 970?

It's a Virtual Quad Cores processor (much a dual for me) so yes it's totally bottleneck a 970...

Would i3 4130 bottleneck 970?

It wouldn't be as bad as a G3258, but it will still bottleneck it in varying amounts, depending on the application.

what the boys forgot to ask is WHAT SCREEN RESOLUTION ARE YOU GOING TO GAME AT?!

even at 4K though the pentium is too weak for modern games it stutter all the time...you need at the very least a core i5 for such GPU's...if you game at 1080p i'd suggest you get a single GTX 970 and put the rest on a cheap Z97 board that still supports SLI and buy yourself a nice i5-4690K or i7-4790K.

The CPU dependency doesn't go down at high res, the GPU dependence just goes up. If a CPU is giving you a stuttery mess at 1080p, the only reason it might not at 4K is if your GPU is giving you an even worse stuttery mess and you can't tell which is having the bigger impact.

Like if you have a CPU that is limiting you to 48 fps at 1080p, and then you play at 4K and suddenly your GPU is limiting you to 40 fps, can you really say that the CPU is suddenly adequate? This is one reason why "bottlenecks" are a bullshit construct.
