Vertical and Horizontal Refresh Rates

Why is it that the monitor I'm getting have both a vertical and horizontal refresh rate? What do those mean? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236288The horizontal for the monitor is 30-83 kHz and vertical is 50-75 Hz. What does it all mean!?!? Thanks

When people talk about refresh rates or Hz, they're referring to the vertical refresh rate.

That's the one you should care about. It means this monitor can handle up to 75Hz.
