HELP ME OUT!

I was cleaning my PC with a canteen of gas spray and accidently there came instead gas, liquid out of the canteen. It sprayed through my CPU cooler on the motherboard (it's maybe 7 droplets, I can't be precise).

What do I need to do? Is my PC doomed and can I bring it to the scrapyard? Do I need to clean the spot(s) with a tissue? Let it dry out (if that is possible) and/or disasemble the PC and then let it dry out (or something).

I'm really stressing right now because I don't know how big the damage could be.

This is the canteen I'm using:

http://www.dienadel.de/Teslanol+Druckgasspray+-+400ml.htm, I've only got it in German (I'm Dutch). So any German folks out here could maybe help me out?

Greetings,

A sweating Cazure

Its normal for compressed air to form condensation it probably already evaporated by now... perfectly fine to use.

@Cazure

No big deal. The stuff in those cans is usually propane, butane or a mix of both. You just tilted the gas can slightly and the liquified gas came out. No worries, it will evaporate and that's it.

Oh my god you guys, thank you so much for clarifying this up!

Thanks so much!

I did a bit of digging around and in short- your computer is unlikely to be damaged, as others have pointed out.

I am assuming that your computer was shut when you were cleaning it. One of the ways in which components are damaged when a liquid spills on them is if the liquid is conductive (e.g.- water has minerals that are conductive [http://www.sewelltech.com/top-10-liquid-spills-kill-laptop-computers/]). If they spill onto a running computer, electricity will conduct through them and short out the component, killing it.

This is not the case for you, since butane (what your compressed air is made up of [http://www.dienadel.de/cosmoshop/default/artikelpdf/dgs400_de.pdf]) doesn't have any conductive substances, and butane itself being a hydrocarbon is a poor conductor of electricity [http://bit.ly/1zpYw0m]. Assuming you allowed for about an hour to pass until your computer was switched on, the liquid butane would have evaporated, leaving no particles that could conduct electricity, so you are alright in that case. The odds of your computer are increased since as you pointed out- the butane liquid came in contact with your cooler, not with your motherboard through which there is circuitry.

I hope this helps!
