So is their any disadvantages about haveing a larger sized HDD as far as a 1 TB compared to a 3 or 4 TB drive? im after pros and cons here.

Not really any more. These days, they're just as fast and reliable. 

Pros: 

More space

 

Cons: 

more expensive

Not really any more. These days, they're just as fast and reliable.

It depends on what kind of drive you buy

So yes, there is a difference. But generally speaking...no not really

5400rpm, 5900rpm, 7200rpm, 32MB cache, 64MB cache, TLER, more platters, less platters, vibration sensors, warranty length

that part of HDD's i get but i just didnt get the whole thing about if bigger apacity drives fail more often then smaller ones.

HDD failure rates are quite low across all drives these days...But if you're really concerned about that (and have important files) then either go Raid 1, or backup frequently.

i plan on doing a backup eventually just want to make sure of things i want to be an IT technician someday and i want to know everything i possibly can get my hands on related to computers.
