So I am currently selling my old rig for around 1100 dollars, and to replace it I put this one together on pcpartpicker http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PkQzsY, I was wondering what I could improve on (It's going to be a silent optimized build), or if the build is fine. Leave your thoughts down below, thanks!

I would try to get a cheaper cooler and get an SSD. Also if you want to get like a good color scheme then you might want to get the gigabyte windforce card so you have the white and black going on.

I can always save up for an SSD down the line, the cooler is a must for me with the silence,. I don't care about the color scheme :P, I can always respray the cooler.

Makes sence if you want the silence. Noctua does make some great stuff.

Are you ever planning on getting another gtx 970? if not then you could go with a lower wattage power supply

You need a Solid State Drive man! Other than that all I would change is get this GPU over the MSI version. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487088&cm_re=GTX_970-_-14-487-088-_-Product. Only because Im an EVGA fan and I think their products are great!

Main conserns;

1) Get an ssd or at least a fast hard-drive like a WD Black or a Seagate SSHD

2) That cooler may not be the best so get a nzxt kraken x41 which is 140mm and performs about like a 240mm so you wount have to remove and sound dampening panels in the top (the cooler is still good ether way)

3) Try to get higher speed RAM like 1866 MHz

4) Get a higher efficiency PSU

5) Consider a windowed case put that is just me

Looks good regardless

Not bad, except that I'd add an SSD.

50Cent sweg.

Dang, looks nice, the only complaints are that I need a higher wattage PSU because in a few months I'm gonna add another 970, and the h440 is windowed so it won't be silent.

First off, yea I think I can squeeze an SSD into the budget without changing much. Thanks for the info.

And the cooler actually out performs a h110 in tests, and is dead silent. Which is why I'm going air cooling.

The ram speed doesn't matter much really.

The higher effeciency PSUs are 50 dollars more and its not really a concern.

Windowed cases are too loud :/

I had an EVGA 970, loudest card I've ever owned. I learned it was a defected card, and the MSI version is the quietest according to tests.

Yes EVGA's first version had massive Coil whine problems, but the newer versions such as the one I linked are fixed :)

Well I also owned the 3975 version and returned it when I heard of the VRAM issue and stuttering in SLI. as you can see, no complaints on noise/coil whine http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487088&cm_re=GTX_970-_-14-487-088-_-Product

The hard drive is really my only concern for noise, if you really need the storage space and don't want to spend money on a high capacity SSD I'd maybe think of getting a WD Green Drive since it's supposed to be really quiet, though in my experience the Seagate Barracuda isn't very loud and that's in a non silenced optimized case.

It's just generally loud with the fans man.

Yeah I have one in my build and I don't hear it.
