I am tired of my laptop and don't want to buy a new computer that will just become outdated in 6 months. I want to build my own computer that can handle many of the games that I have on my steam account. Most demanding games are GTA 4 and Dead Rising 3.These are two different computer builds that I am working on.

First - One that I am working towards

Sentey Desktop Power Supply MXP1000-HM Metal Blade Power 1000 Watts Power

Z97 Extreme6 Desktop Motherboard - Intel Z97 Express Chipset - Socket H3 LGA-1150 Motherboard

Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz LGA 1150 Boxed Processor Processor

Crucial - 8GB Ballistix 240-pin DIMM DDR3 PC3-12800 Memory Module – Black Memory

Crucial - 240 GB 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive – Multi Storage

Cooler Master - HAF912 Mid-Tower Chassis – Black Case

EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti FTW DVI-I/HDMI/Display Port GDDR5 Graphics Card with ACX Cooling 02G-P4-3757-KR Graphics Card

Second

Corsair CX Series 500 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Bronze ATX12V/EPS12V 456 Power Supply CX500M Power

Asus - Desktop Motherboard - AMD 970 Chipset - Socket AM3+ Motherboard

AMD FD8350FRHKBOX FX-8350 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition Processor Processor

Crucial - 8GB Ballistix 240-pin DIMM DDR3 PC3-12800 Memory Module – Black Memory

Crucial - 240 GB 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive – Multi Storage

Cooler Master - HAF912 Mid-Tower Chassis – Black Case

EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti FTW DVI-I/HDMI/Display Port GDDR5 Graphics Card with ACX Cooling 02G-P4-3757-KR Graphics Card

My uncle and friend are pretty tech savvy, but I wanted to get a bit more information about what I should look for and not have to pay an arm and a leg. I love the idea of having a purely custom-made computer, and I want make sure that I do not buy something and end up wasting money on pieces that I don't need. Let me know how my set up is and if there is any major changes that I need to make or any suggestions that you would do to make this a more enjoyable computer.

I am also going to be getting a keyboard, mouse, monitor, and speakers. I like a tactical keyboard and am current looking towards the Microsoft - Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop Wireless USB Keyboard and Mouse. I am going all out, so help is greatly appreciated.

Go with the first build, but swap PSUs. If you decide to go the AMD route: do NOT use an 8350 (or 9590 for that matter) on a 970 board, it will burn out the VRM on 95% of those boards.

I just found out that 750 Ti uses less power then 240 (60W vs 75W)... Wow.

The power of Maxwell.

Wow, no wonder a build I made on PCPP with 4 980s and a 5960X wouldn't break 1,000W

Four 980s in the LTT test rig doesn't even break 650, and it'd be 250W max for the rest.

Yeah, you can use it to upgrade shitty pre-builts to alright gaming rigs!

Oh right, another reason that AMD CPUs suck. I forgot about that.

You absolutely do not need a 1000W PSU for ONE 750Ti. Get a 500W PSU and get a 970 instead. Also go the intel route.

Follow the topics you create using the "Follow" button in the top right corner!

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

I would recommend waiting a little bit for the 300 seires GPU's from AMD. The 750 ti isn't my first pick but it would be nice. And definetly go with the i5.
