Broadwell on desktops is going to be skipped so this means nothing :(
Even though broadwell for desktops doesn't mean crap.

I'm already using a 4790k on it, this is Z97 anyways so it has always had devils canyon support

5th gen means it will support all processors from haswell to cannoernlake

cannonlake is 7th gen (Assuming they don't skip broadwell for desktop, if they do then cannonlake will be called 6th gen, skylake will be called 6th gen)

Also it can't support skylake and cannon lake since it is LGA 1150 with Z97

Many sources including this forum, I don't care too much about broadwell as I do about USB 3.1 and 3.1 type C

Link? afaik it's not being skipped. There will be Broadwell desktop chips. It's just that you won't really find many OEMs using them cause they would rather wait for Skylake.

I can hit 4.7GHz with 1.25V on my 4790k with a NH-U14s (& MX-4 for the lols)

I haven't tried higher yet, I also didn't stress test for very long though so I can't guarantee that it's 100% stable

Temps are really good, never ever go above 72c max on full load in intel XTU

Why are you waiting for broadwell? Broadwell is a die shrink, so pretty much they make haswell go from 22nm to 14nm, there is a under 3-5% performance improvement clock for clock over haswell, don't waste your time waiting for broadwell, also the 4790k has a better thermal paste under the heat spreader over the 4770k and it has better VRMs too, so there won't be a 5790k only a 5770k unless that has some issues, which it won't since Intel has learnt their lesson. :)

ah yes, i don't really need the cpu upgrade NOW since i'll be getting a GPU first..

and if I do decide on upgrading the CPU, i just wanted to see the differences first in benchmarks. albeit small, according to much of you guys. 4770K, 4790K, 5770K

finally, just because i could have that 5th gen cpu..pretty silly, right? lol

What do you mean you want to see Tue difference in benchmarks? By the time the benchmarks are out the 4790k will not be on sale anymore, there is no point in waiting a really long time for broadwell and getting 1.24% extra performance, that is really stupid, that's why I built my rig with a 4790k

there are local shops here still selling 3rd gen cpus when broadwell was released..im pretty sure haswell will still be hanging around when I finally decide on which cpu i'll get..we get the latest items here usually late..

so i really can make the wait..dont worry, your 4790K is an object of envy for many gens to come  :D
