Also, the AMD CPU socket the Piledriver uses is end of life.

 

The Intel chip uses the LGA 1150 socket, which is still in use and should at least let you upgrade to an i7

 

Unless you need some serious grunt for something like Video Rendering 24/7 then I'd definitely go for the Intel.

this seems the right spot to add something i had happen recently:

 

i copied over a minecraft server from an (overclocked) AMD 8-core, to a intel i7 4770 and got over twice the performance (single core performance) while the i7 was also more silent, and less power hungry.

 

this fact will probably keep me away from any current AMD products on the market.
