I've noticed that sometimes it takes a while for the computer to turn on/off

An example would be today. I turned my computer on at 8:09am GMT. Didn't load after 10 minutes so I pressed the button and it said shutting down. I had to go to school and when I got home about 3:30 pm it was still saying shutting down.

I turned it off and on and it booted into windows 8 in about 20 seconds.

Sometimes it also takes about 20 minutes for the blue light on the computer to stop (I assume the computer is still doing something) when the monitors have turned black as my computer is shutting down.

Built the computer in august too.

What drivers in specific?

Graphics drivers are absolutely fine. (Even though I did BSOD once from a nvidia driver!)

try to re-install as many drivers as possible

limit the number of start-up apps

sometime you need to re-install the O.S

and is it on the SSD ?
