I posted a topic a little while ago regarding some problems I had. Most of these problems are resolved although I am still having some issues. The main issue being that my computer is experiencing random freezes. The keyboard and mouse are completely unresponsive pushing CapsLock doesn't even cause the corresponding LED to light up. The screen is also frozen too. Although if I leave the computer like that long enough it will eventually restart itself. Secondly, I am having trouble installing windows updates, for some reason I am getting error codes for 3 updates. Error codes: 80073712 and 8007000d

I have run memtest and no errors were found, I have updated to the latest BIOS, and installed all the drivers I could find, I have done several reinstalls of windows, but nothing seems to help. I'm not sure what the problem is. Do you guys think this is a hardware issue (Motherboard or RAM) oris this a windows problem?

Parts:

Intel i7-5820k

MSI X99S SLI PLUS motherboard

8GB (8x1) Crucial Ballistix Sport BLS8G4D240FSA

EVGA gtx 770

Windows 8.1 Pro

I would try a system restore to an earlier restore point, if that fails backup the important files and reinstall the OS.

Case: Meatbag, humanoid - APU: Human Brain version 1.53 (stock clock) - Storage: 100TB SND (Squishy Neuron Drive) - PSU: a combined 500W of Mitochondrial cells - Optical Drives: 2 Oculi, with corrective lenses.

I probably should hve mentioned this in this post, but I have done so many re installs at this point. I have also wiped the drives several times before.

Oh you HAVE a fresh OS? Well yeah, not a windows problem then. If your memory checks out I'm frankly drawing a blank as well.

That will help you with your first error message. Just so you know the solution was a clean install of Windows.

That will help with your second error code.

I'd suggest that a overall issue is a corrupted install of Windows. I'd just back up what I needed, and set aside about 2-4 hours and do a clean install of Windows. If you are sure you have done this, then I suggest failing HDD or SSD.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Another quick point I would like to make, often times when I find people doing "a clean install of Windows" they are getting torrented versions of the ISO that OFTEN have some tomfoolery going on and aren't a official version. That or they are a OEM copy from a manufacture.

That coupled with not installing the appropriate drivers, AND allowing Windows to connect to the internet before everything is ready, is a recipe for disaster.

Ok what is your advice on doing a "clean" install of windows because I have done several reinstalls even after formats, I have used boot and nuke to completely destroy all data on them and then do a reinstall. I'm not sure how much "cleaner" I can get. (I am using an official purchased disc for windows, I don't connect to the internet till after the install, and I have installed every driver I can think of) The SSD could be a problem (which is where I always install windows), but is there anyway to check?

Windows has a built in disk check utility.

I'm not sure what your saying

You said "is there any way to check". I replied that "Windows has a built in disk check utility".
