Help building a computer

Vicente Gomez

Hey guys,

Can any of you recommend a build that can max out games like planetside 2, battfield 3,4 and hardline, the batman arkam series, titanfall, cg:go, gmod, the arma series, and skyrim. I also wanna be set for any new games coming out in the future like The Division. My budget is around $600-$700. But in the build I need to include a monitor and keyboard and mice. Thanks in advanced guys!

Are you saying that you want to max out at ultra settings on all of the games listed?

Keep in mind that Arma has pretty bad optimization. Most games mostly uses the GPU but arma requires you to have a powerful CPU. Also do you want to get a high end gaming mouse and mechanical keyboard? The mouse could cost up to $100 and a good mechanical keyboard could cost up to $180. Also a good 1008p monitor would cost you $150.

You could remove the SSD and get a better CPU if you wanted, but this should do pretty well. Could use the ol' thumbstick method for the OS to save ~$100

I would suggest building an AMD based APU system. A nice powerful 7850k processor paired with some high speed AMD Radeon branded memory (at least 2133mhz). You would be able to run most games at high settings in the 45-60fps range and the more demanding titles at medium settings 1080p. I build a similar system for a friend and with peripherals came out to $5-600 USD. With this type of setup you can sort of "test the water" and see how the games feel. If later on you feel like you want more then slap a beast graphics card in there and you can run even the most intensive titles maxed at 1080p. just make sure you have a good power supply  to make the upgrade later on easier. Good luck with whatever you decide on :)

an i5 would be ok wouldnt it? and I really dont care about the mouse and keyboard, should spend more than 30 bucks on a bundle. im aiming for high settings at at 60fps

would it be possible for you to put this a pcpartpicker list? this sounds like a really good idea

You're not going to be able to hit 60fps 1080p in those games without a dedicated GPU:

http://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/AMD-A10-7850K-Performance-Review-529/

This is at very low settings, ~720p, and struggling to hit 60fps.

The 280X is definitely capable of 1080p 60fps at high settings.

This should leave you with plenty of upgrade-ability later on. You may want to consider shopping around for a similar motherboard to better fit your specific needs though.

This is honestly really mediocre for $700; as I said before, you're not going to be able to get even 1/2 way to 1080p 60fps with integrated graphics no matter how fast your RAM is in modern games. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_a10_7850k_apu_review,10.htmlEven if you upgrade your computer later by putting in a dedicated GPU, that's still a mediocre CPU in it.

Whereas a 280X will be able to achieve 1080p 60fps in almost every game you throw at it http://www.techspot.com/review/841-radeon-r9-280x-roundup/page9.html

I changed the build to remove the SSD and put an i5 in there if you want a more powerful processor.

Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 280X 3GB Video Card  ($192.98 @ Newegg)

This will absolutely destroy any APU system.
