Cheapest Overclockable cpu

i want to find a cpu that is overclockable (2 core prferably) and cheap this is so i can put on a AIO cooler and get some insane overclocks

 

 

this is just for fun

I know a Pentium 4 can run Street Fighter at a solid 60fps @640x480 on a CRT screen when overclocked..

Depends what your definition of cheap is... the cheapest OCable CPUs are Core2Duos but you'll dump a lot of cash on a good board for it and more on some good DDR2 RAM.

 

A cheap one is the G3258 and a decent board on LGA1150 but it's no fun at all.

 

I'd grab a Sempron 145 and something like a used 890FX or 990FX board.

Pentium G3258 for newer CPUs, and then pretty much any second hand CPU from LGA775 and previous. Eg. Celeron 500MHz.

I was going to buy a 2nd for myself as my 1st was a bag of crap but I've overclocked about 20 of them already for others and nah... boring!

i know haswell isnt fun to overclock even thow i had good luck with my 4790k this bad boy will sit stable at 5 ghz on all cores

I'll put it this way, you need to tweak a lot more to overclock on LGA775 cpus than with Haswell. I know this from experience with my E8500 (4.2GHz-still doing tweaks to get it running for more than 30minutes stable-normal use). Ergo, its more fun.

and 775 never seems to die for me i was running a pentium d for 3 years 24 hours a day and its fine now

386 DX-40, it was running from 1992 right up to 2009 when my step dad spilt beer on the front panel connectors and permanently shorted them out (the motherboard's power indicating LED still lights up though-I've got hope for its resurrection still).

Nope, it was my Dos gaming rig. I even had a ribbon printer for it (with 3 spare reams of foolscap-the stuff that was joined together) that had 5 more refills to go through.
