It'll run MAME extremely well, Ben Heck demonstrated that with his "Raspberry Pi Portable" videos.

An A+ came out? Last time I checked there was an A, B, B+, and the 2.

A+ came out before B+. It's just smaller A

My raspi b+ runs snes games with great looking colors and anything like gba games it can run too. Honestly with a pair of usb snes controllers it sits under my tv and works perfectly for my idea of emulation. Playing space invaders and mario kart for the snes with the family is fun

There is A, and A+ with 256mb ram, Then B and B+ with 512mb ram, and then the Pi 2 B with 1Gb ram and a quad core

so should I go with the b+ instead? the reason though I wanted the A+ was because it's so tiny, the b+ though is slightly bigger

They're all freaking tiny dude, I wouldn't worry about size with any of em. I have one (can't remember model but it's got more ram, think it was second gen) and it's small enough in the case to carry in a pocket.

raspberry pi a+ is 23 grams vs 45 grams A, B, B+ plus 2 inches shorter

OFF TOPIC: I suggest every poll from now on to have "**CK EA" option instead of "Other"

Unless you are seriously restricted for space it is only $10 more and about 1-2inches longer and it packs way more power

And have to desolder the Ethernet port (which takes up a USB 2.0 connection on the chipset), along with probably having to desolder than reattach the double-stacked USB ports? Yeah, no. Ben learnt that the A/A+ is better for a handheld design than the B/B+ was, when he made his FIRST Raspberry Pi Portable.

In fact, one of the first things he commented about when making the SECOND Pi Portable (video linked above) was learning the hardway that he should have used a Model A instead of the Model B for the original, which is why the second version uses an A+ not a B+.

He may be able to run SNES games but NES will work just fine.

Eh, might as well just buy some cheap chinese android tablet/phone off ebay for under $50, at least you will be able to run more than Atari games.
