I have seen a few people saying they have done this. I also have seen a few people saying they had problems. Does anyone know about this? The external isn't really working out, it always is coming disconnected. I assume, i just pop open the case, and then there is going to be a adapter and i remove that. Anything else?

Interesting. I know wd drives are just a regular wd hdd with an adapter.

The drive you are talking about, does it have standard connections? I know when I hooked my 3tb wd red to my MacBook, my MacBook only recognized 2.2tb which I believe is due to the adapter I had which came from a wd 2tb external.

I figured it out.

Yes it has standard connections, i got it hooked up before i posted it was just saying that it was 349GB. A drive larger then 2.2TB has to be converted to GPT. Apparently when it is a USB drive it does not matter.

Converted that and now it is working.
