ShadowSlayer

Hi everyone i'm new to this forum, but i hope i can get some help/advice.

I have PC, but it lacks POWER, i have tight budget and i don't know what to do. Games on my PC is running on medium to low settings with medium resolution and i want to run the better, but i have no idea where to start or what to put in.

My PC specs:

Core I3 3240 @3.4 ghz

6Gb ram (some generic brand)

Nvidia Gt 610 2Gb DDR3

450w PSU

500 GB hdd

It would be great to get some advice from people with more knoledge than me.

I apologise if my english isn't that great, i'm not fom country where everyone speaks english.

What's your budget? The first adviseable upgrade would be the GPU. If you don't have much cash, get a GTX 750ti. If you have cash, get a GTX 970. Your PSU will support both just fine.

Also, welcome to the forums! :D

I would upgrade your GPU first. Although the entire system could do with an upgrade, upgrading the GPU would help you with gaming the most

Also welcome to the forums

Yes, definitely the 610. You could get a 960 depending on how much it costs in your country, or get something like a 750ti.

The GTX 960 is given an MSRP of $200USD, and the 970 is given an MSRP of $330USD (if I'm not mistaken). The 960 is likely what you'd be able to get.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

With games like that you will be running out of leg room with your i3 in the not to distant future.

There is always the option of breaking your build in 2 or even 3 parts!

Firstly, i would get rid of the 610

- GTX 960 or the R9 280x mentioned above are good little cards that will get you out of trouble and can be had for ~$200

Second round i would be looking at a new Motherboard and CPU

 - FX 8350 or the 6350 and board should set you back around $200-250

Or

- i5 4690k and board around $300-$350

Keep in mind your country will most liking be different on part prices compared the to ones quoted from USA, dont forget shipping and conversion if your shopping internationally.

I was thinking putting in FX series CPU and board, but first of all i will be upgrading my GPU, so i can squeeze some more juice of my current build.

Thanks for advice everyone, it really helped me :)

This should probably be in the New Builds and Planning sub-fourm :P

I'd suggest the GTX 750Ti, GTX 960, Radeon R9 280 or the 280X.

All will show a large improvement over the 610.

An FX CPU will show improvements over that i3, especially a 6 or 8 core (Compareable to an i5)

No, just no.

And why not? I didn't say better, I said comparable. the i5 will have better temps, single core and multi core performance, but the 8320 is quite a bit cheaper, and is a better overclocker. keep in mind it's a tight budget, it would be hard to get a mid range GPU and an i5 seeing as he'd have to get a new motherboard either way.

$5 more than yours, but if you really needed to you could get a motherboard for half that price. This one has the flagship chipset, and it's overclockable.

And your gaming experience tanks with the AMD CPU, where the i5 keeps going.  I am referring to lows, not average FPS.

I have to mention the crappy VRM on the board.  Power to the FX CPU will be limited for a hefty overclock.  A better CPU cooler would be needed to OC also.
