Holy shit with those kinds of conditions I wouldn't even accept the chromebook, they can keep it !

 

About your problem, I don't think we can do anything, they probably manage your account directly with google or... do you login with your own google account or the one they gave you ? That might be the problem.

Your correct. The login is not @gmail.com it is @chipfalls.org. So it is managed by an outside force. Also when you login to the wifi it is like a hotel wifi so you have to use your student login for that. I swear it is fort knox at out school.

Our school uses chromebooks, probably said that a million times by now, but they blocked sites and the usual but when it said that the extension was blocked by admin I got mad. No were in our dumb little contract that we signed did it say anything about blocking extensions on the chrome store. It said they have a key logger, can track your online history, and can make changes to your chromebook. All I wanted was the Chrome Remote Desktop extension but now I can't. I started thinking and thought that I could download the extension and put it on a USB and then run it on my chromebook. But the only way is to download it from the chrome store. Any ideas on how to get it and tell my school they didn't tell us this?

Same, in our school, we signed a contract for school use.  They blocked VPNs, and youtube is an Iboss web filtered version, unless at school. If you use https: THEN IT WORKS AT SCHOOL. buT IT IS VERY STUPID, AT LEAST ltt IS NOT BLOCKED. Lmao THE RAZER WEBSITE IS BLOCKED DUE TO "game prohibited content" and Amazon isn't

I would highly appreciate that but that is science fiction for me. I might go and talk to a teacher or IT person to review their policy. I am leaning more towards bringing my old laptop but it isn't the most practical thing when it is a 17 inch screen and ways about 6 pounds...

In our school, the contract for us is in effect even with our own laptop. Everyone is required to have one.

well youtube does have softcore stuff..... but still learn to bypass the firewall just do it stealthy or you would be punished like i was in school

Atleast mine has Youtube unblocked. But it still has dumb websites blocked like Amazon, Nvidia, and tech sites due to hardware and gaming. ALSO they even but a filter on the chromebook so it filters everything at home that they selected. It is getting a little over board now and they need to learn to trust kids.

Atleast mine has Youtube unblocked. But it still has dumb websites blocked like Amazon, Nvidia, and tech sites due to hardware and gaming. ALSO they even but a filter on the chromebook so it filters everything at home that they selected. It is getting a little over board now and they need to learn to trust kids.

Anyway in the end it's their computer, what you can do with it it's up to them since you didn't pay for it.

Your correct. The login is not @gmail.com it is @chipfalls.org. So it is managed by an outside force. Also when you login to the wifi it is like a hotel wifi so you have to use your student login for that. I swear it is fort knox at out school.
