Hey Guys,

I have my Asus Xonar DGX in the PCIeX1 slot right above my GPU in the first PCIeX16 slot. there is maybe a millimeter or two between the capacitors of the soundcard and the vrms of the gpu.

Over the past weeks I have been getting many game crashes and PC freezes. I thought I had narrowed the problem down to one of my GPUs being faulty. The card ran fine during any Benchmark (no sound), but in game it would crash within 20 minutes (after a short static noise, apps like spotify and skype would output sound just fine and mic kept working too). Both times, the card was sitting directly below the soundcard.

Interestingly enough, this would only happen with one of the cards, which is why I RMA'd it.

Now I am not so sure anymore it was that card, BECAUSE it just happened with my current card as well, though I had loud, continuous static noise instead of normal sound. After a reboot, the noise was still there :(

I have now moved the Soundcard into the lowest PCIeX1 slot with no more problems so far.

So, to conclude, is there a chance that my Soundcard may interfere with my GPU and cause these crashes?

Thanks in advance,

your GPUs should be in the top two PCIe slots of your motherboard, not with the sound card on top

A lot of motherboards have the 1x slot at the top above the x16 slots, you know. OP's being one of those boards.
