EVGA 750w G2 or 850w G2?

Hey guys / gals (don't want to trigger any of you, oh wait this isn't Tumblr)

I'm making a build soon and slowly building up the parts as I go along but one part in particular is bugging me.

The parts can be found here, http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/T3pYqs

The part in question is the PSU, and I've watched a tonne of reviews on the EVGA 850w G2 and it seems to be great,

But is 850w too much? Would 750w be more viable?

All the parts are more or less deffinatley what I'm going to buy with the exception of maybe going SLI in the future

and maybe swapping the Gigabyte G1 for an EVGA 970 FTW,

cheers,

Blackler

Even going with sli, you won't be hitting 750w. So the 750w would be better if the price is cheaper, if not, get the 850 just because.

No such thing as "too much" per se, but the 750 G2 is better suited.

That system could run on a 500w PSU

750 is even overkill, but you could SLI in the future easily with 750 watts.

750 is enough but since the 850 is only slightly more expensive you might aswell get that one (might run cooler / quieter)

750W G2 is fine for even 970 SLI. 850W is a waste.

Also, I wouldn't touch the Krait motherboard as they haven't been getting particularly good reviews and if you decide to update the BIOS any time then you may end up with a bricked paper weight as MSI BIOS flashing tools are hopeless

not that much of a price difference, so i'd go with the 850W for headroom.

Cheers guys, probably will stay with the 850w then for the headroom and for future use for that "just in case" feeling then. As for the choice of MSI Krait, I picked it due to the color scheme but thanks for the heads up, I'll look into what you said though, thanks mate

I was is your position and opted for the 850W model, simply due to the fact, that I want the fan spinning as little as possible.

You won't max out either PSU, so this quality of life improvement and the idea of going a bit overkill with some of my parts, made me take the 850W

Very personal choise though.
