Help! My friend spilled coffee on his laptop. What can he do?

He has no warranty on it, anything that he can try he will. He just wants to try and save it.

Is the laptop still on? If so, close it and remove the battery

If he closes it (assuming he spilled coffee on the keyboard), then all that will do is get coffee on the screen. And flipping it upside down will just pour more of it into sensitive electronic components.

 

Keep it open, turn it off/remove the battery. Open it up, clean it with isopropyl alcohol and maybe cotton swabs and let it dry. If it works, congratulations.

It's not just an Indian thing, trust me lol. My Dutch/German mother says to close it as well.
