PLEASE HELP URGENT PC HELP

hey i have a fairly high end build (r9 280x,4690k) but i am moving to year 11 and i need a laptop to take to school and do my work on. Im looking for a gaming one.

My plan was to sell my pc and use the money to buy a laptop but then i came across the alienware laptops with graphics amplifyier. Is it worth it to spend 500bucks more than i wanted to to have a dock to plug my laptop in when i get home or is the standard gtx 860m msi and asus laptops good enough for a few years???

My budget is $1500 australian which is like a 1200 dollar laptop in america. I would prefer an i7 and at least 8gb ram. Im willing to go higher in budget if its worth it.

And secondly, no, it's 100% not worth it to get a graphics amplifier when you own a desktop. Spend that money on upgrading your desktop or keep it for the future.

If u can - get a normal pc, it's far better for games/work and durable, than a laptop.

And yeah, don't buy alienware - u'll just give away your money.

No. This is school. School that you generally don't live at. A laptop is essential.

Gtx 860m

i7 4710hq

16gb ram

250gb ssd

For 1489 is that worth it or shoild i spend more for the alienware so that when i get home i can play proper games with proper settings. By the way the alienware with the same specs is around 1800bucks

That laptop is pretty good for the money, I'd go with that one. Once gain, don't bother with alienware. And at home you have your own desktop, why would you want to use a laptop?

Get Asus or HP for studies. No point getting a laptop for school and game at the same time. Intel i5 and SSD is very good for studies use.
