I've heard that am3+ is dead but even so the performance on those chips are better then fm2+'s cpu (not apu). Should i stick with the 860k(fm2+) or get something strong like a 6300 (or maybe 4200 as that is dirt cheap atm)?

Going CPU + GPU? AM3+

Going APU (So, using onboard/on-chip video) Use FM2+

That's my general recommendation. I would, however, recommend looking at benchmarks for whatever you will be doing. And compare to an i3 or i5 as well. The price different really isnt that bad anymore.

I wonder what new goodies AMD will bring this year

I highly doubt any goodies...seeing that they haven't made a really new chip for some time save for the 860k........you should save up for intel 1150 socket...

how well does the pentium do on regular usage, multiple browsing tabs, school work?

You won't notice a difference between G3258 and 860K in those tasks.

In gaming, G3258 is actually worse then 860K.

Just don't upgrade until you can afford at least an i5.

Jeez, dont go with neither Pentium or i3, if you cant get good i5, go with FX 6 or 8 core, theyre still solid chips no matter what some Intel biased guys say here.

Biased....coming from the guy that wouldn't give any evidence to back up his claim.........

I would go for a 6300 but idk if AM3+ will die out and leave no upgrade-abliltiy. However if it can last me 5+ years ill consider it and make a new pc when i need it

You know if you have a tv with HDMI it will work the same as a monitor...
